Because it's got a lot of differences from our universe, so I figure I should keep track of various canon facts.
Euro Federation: The European Union, basically. Contains Turkey.
ASEAN: These guys, basically, but with territory vastly expanded to basically include all of East Asia and the Pacific. Including Japan and Australia.
United States of Thracia: Basically the USA. Currently ruled by President Alexander. Presidential terms seem to be 5 years long. Has advanced technology in most things, but lags behind other countries in robotics.
Kingdom Republic of Persia: Iran, technically. Politically, however, it's rather closer to Iraq, at least in terms of international relations. Around 5 years ago, was invaded by Thracia under pretense. Was at the time ruled by Darius XIV. He is now in a Thracian political prison. They are rebuilding.
- Seems to have rather more Uzbekian influence than our Iran. A legend states that the founder of Uzbek (Uzbeg Khan?) was tutored in the ways of the world by a sand giant named Goji. This giant then returned to sand when his job was complete. Apparently a rather popular story, as you can buy small statues of Goji which are supposed to bring luck.
Robot Laws: Laws created by the UN which most countries have signed off on. Designed to protect robot rights: right to a family, right to vacation time, right to attempt happiness. Also of import is Law 13 -- no robot may harm or kill a human. Also, robots cannot resign their jobs.
